Headunit not powering on?

I finally got around to getting my new stereo installed! But I have a probelm. The first unit I got wouldnt power on and I have hardwired in. We thought faulty unit. I then read that the yellow and red wires on the stereo are opposite now. Yellow goes to red and red goes to yellow. Still didnt power on.. So I plugged up the old AFTERMARKET AM/FM stereo that came with the truck. Everything worked fine! So I took back the stereo I bought and got a replacement. Well the replacement is doing the same thing.

I am installing in a 1995 F-150 with only 2 speakers and as I said it had a aftermarket Jensen Cassette AM/Fm in it when I bought it. The headunit itseld is a Pioneer Deh-11E

Could anyone give me ideas or reasons why this may be happening? We are thinking maybe a problem installing the unit in truck because of a need acessory? As the radio that came with it is prob 10 years old.

Any help would be greatly apperciated.

u said u were hardwiring..check your ground make sure thats good n secure on a clean metal surface.

well lets start from the beginning.

You have the aftermarket harness for your vehicle i assume. If the stereo that came with the truck i believe is factory. If so buy aftermarket wiring harness for your truck it should clip right in then you start crimping the color coded wires from aftermarket stereo wiring harness to the aftermarket harness for you car. Be sure to ground the black wire to the chassis and that should be it.

I would figure it would have a aftermarket wiring harness, as the stereo installed was aftermarket. But it was also a old Jensen Cassette AM/FM, but who knows! I have only had this truck for a couple of weeks.

Is there anyway I can tell if it's a aftermarket wiring harness?
