headunit and new speakers

now i have a 1995 Maxima that came with bose. i replaced the headunit and used a pac oem to run it through the aftermarket head unit. if i wanted to put in some new speakers would i have to do anything special or would it just be a normal speaker install?

Yeah, you'd have to do something special.

You can replace the Bose speakers and keep the amps, or you can bypass the Bose amps. My advice would be to bypass. The Bose system uses combined amp/speaker modules. You can remove the entire module and build custom brackets for your speakers, or you can keep the Bose enclosures in place and try to match the Bose speaker size. Either way you'll need to identify the two signal wires connected to the Bose module (instead of the power and ground wires) and connect them directly to your new speakers. Once all the Bose amps are bypassed, you can get rid of the OEM module.

What do you mean by "add speakers"?

Are you trying to replace the factory speakers, add more speakers in addition to the factory speakers, or add subwoofers?

just replace th bose speakers and run NEW wire to all of the speakers to the HU. that will be the easiest and best route.

trying to figure out what is what on bose stuff takes too much time and it is a hassle. just take them out and keep them intact and sell it on ebay.

i sold bose speakers on ebay for $400 with the deck from a 2000 corvette C5

Once you've pulled the Bose modules and run new speaker wire back to the head unit, then no, nothing "special" needs to be done (except for removing the OEM module you're currently using).

You might have to build custom brackets to hold your speakers after the Bose enclosures have been removed...
