head unit wiring??

I just bought a jvc head unit and i cut the wire on the car and thought i was going to wire the head unit right to the car, but then i decided to get the adaptor kit thing, because i have a friend who works at best buy and he got it for like $1.25,so i connected everything and it doesnt even turn on. I checked to make sure it was getting power with a multi meter and the red and black wire have 14v, but i tried plugging in the original radio and that doesnt turn on either? I can figure it out because it has power goin to it and i connected all the wire right i think?

connect the wire or wires that you cut back to where they originally were

What model jvc and what kind of car? Most likely one wire is not connected right. It happens alot.

i connected all the wire right i checked several times, but i read that on jvc's the red and yellow wire are backwords? I think its the kd-g240, and the car its going in is a 2002 toyota rav4. i connected the red wire with the yellow wire on the adapter harness thing, and it the head unit make a motor sound like when you put a cd in or take one out.

that is the same thing my jvc did when i installed it. try to turn it on normally after it is done making that noise.

I found out when i cut the wires i blew the fuse, now it works perfectly but i can figure out how i can shut the bass off the speaker?
