head unit remote controls...

I had started a previous thread in this forum in which I outlined the challenges I face designing an audio system for my 1932 Ford roadster that is currently under construction. While the following questions I have about head units are not completely unrelated to my original thread, I feel that they are specific and unique enough to justify starting a new thread and avoiding confusion.

I need to hide the HU for this install and I've got a couple of questions relating to that:

• Is there any danger in installing head units in a vertical or sideways position?

• I cannot find any information on manufacter's websites such as Pioneer, Alpine and Kenwood regarding the specifics of the remote controls available for some of their units. Since I'm looking to hide the HU and won't have a line of sight to it, I need a unit that has an RF remote, not infrared. Can anybody clue me in on this?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm preety sure that Alpine and Pioneer both have options for wired remotes. This would allow you to run it into the center console or maybe stick it under the dash and just pull it out when you need it.
