Head Unit Problem

I was installing a head unit and some door speakrs in an old Honda Accord (87-89). This thing was really old and someone obviously had tried to do some previous car audio work and they rigged the entire car. There was no head unit in it and what was left was a bunch of dangling wires, the stock harness had been cut off. So I went online and got the wiring diagram and hooked it up w/o an aftermarket harness. The unit got power fine but didnt play music. Not a single speaker worked. I figured there was a problem somewhere b/c of the poor job that was done before. I'll probably just wire each speaker directly to the head unit with some speaker wire but Id rather avoid that long tedious process - any suggestions?

One speaker or speaker wire may have a problem. Disconnect the speakers at the head unit, one at a time, until the others work. One blown speaker or shorted wire can shut down all the speakers as the deck's protection circuit kicks in.

Yea thanks thats a very good point. I've had that problem before when one speaker was getting shorted out by touching the metal of the car which caused every speaker not to work. I'll definitly check that out--
