head unit problem wireing

i have a jvc kd-7010 (in dash dvd), bought from a friend, it doesnt want to turn on , it has power because the head unit with screen turns on but nothing happins, the main screen is still inside there is another little blue screen on the outside and it lights up with no words and the numbers light up but nothing else, no buttons work, i cant tell if the hideaway unit is on but i have it wired in the same battery line and ground off the wireing harness (both the head unit and hideaway unit are on the same ground and battery wires), i dont know why nothing happens, please helppp!

To make sure its working Id get a couple runs of power wire (16 gauge or something) and wire it up directly to a well-charged battery (the ground, continuous, and acc wires)...just to make sure it turns on and works properly...and if you hook it up again in your car and something isnt right you may want to run power wire straight from the battery to the headunit (Id use an appropriate fuse as well on that run) as the continuous...then take the ground of the headunit and either find a nice ground to bolt it to or run it directly back to the battery's negative battery terminal.

And then for the acc wire you'd need to find a relay in you car that will turn on when the car's acc's turn on (or wire up a new one that you cn buy)...I would also fuse this just for $hits-n-giggles and with all of that it should be golden because everything is laid out and controlled because you ran the wires...and it should have no reason to not work then..
