head unit powers up.. but no speakers?

just got the wiring harness for my 99 mustang.. i wired it up and the head unit powered on.. all my speakers were conected and i wasnt geting any sound.. im confused.. what should i try?

there is probably a factory amp, needs to be bypassed

good thinkin.. i did see something that looked like an amp under the dash.. do i just take that out.. splice the wires off the back of that and feed them into my head unit speaker outputs..

would i have to take more of the dash apart to unscrew the amp.. is it tricky to get out.. cuz i dont wana take my car to far apart.. im not as famillar as it as i was my old car

aright well i guess ill go try to get at the amp and see if i can fix the problem.. ill be back if i need help

The amplifier is located just below the stock radio. (HU)

LF Speaker +/- org/lt. grn - lt. blue/wht

RF Speaker +/- wht/lt. grn - green/orange

LR Speaker +/- gray/lt. blue - tan/yellow

RR Speaker +/- orange/red - brown/pink

aright... that was the problem.. i got the internal amp out and wired the speakers direct to my H/U.. but there are 3 left over wires that im not sure what they go to.. maybe some type of amp turn on or memory for the old system?

you would have been better off turning on that amp... it would make them speakers sound better im sure

I had this problem with my car there is a harness that just bypasses the stock amp you plug it half into wiring harness then other half into amp and your good.
