head unit lost sound... need help

i am running a Kenwood DDX-7019, the other day i lost sound. I am unsure what happened. When I turn on the deck it plays choppy for a split second then nothing. I have checked all connections and varified that they are connected. scroling through the options on the deck if i change the bass management system (B.M.S) AMP bass from flat to +6, +12 etc or when I switch the B.M.S AMP Freq from Normal to Low i get choppy sound for a few seconds then nothing...

Any help on this situation would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers

Steve

Do you have a separate amplifier, or do the speakers go straight to your head unit? If you don't have an amp, then you could splice a pair of speakers into the output at the back of the headunit, to determine if there's a problem with the car's speaker wiring or speakers. If the test speakers play fine, you know there's a wiring problem, or bad speakers. You can then determine which it is by replacing the speakers in the doors (or wherever they are) with your test speakers.

If you still get the same problem with known good speakers wired in right at the back of the headunit, it's either a bad headunit, or bad power/ground wiring to the headunit. You can try temporarily running power and ground wires directly from the battery to the headunit power/ground connections.

Hope this helps!
