Head Unit Heating Up

Today I worked on installing my Amp.. I ran all wires from trunk and connected them to HU.. connected the Sub Woofer Out RCA and ran em to trunk... connected External Amp cable and ran it to trunk.... However I have not hooked up my actual amp yet bc I am not sure how to install the inline fuse holder... but I was driving around and realized my HU had gotten veryyy hot.. when I took the actual faceplate off and touched behind it really was scaldin..

What could have gone wrong, think my ground has gotten loose or somthin? or could it be one of the new wires I ran shorting out?

oh.. another question - proly doesnt relate to the hotness of the HU

but when i wired the amp up i hadnt realized the wire from the HU to the amp (not the RCA) i actuall ran that cable WITH the RCA sound cable.. but the battery power wire is on the other side of the car... what are the odds that this will mess up the sound?

It is common to run the remote line with the RCA lines, the remote line is a very low current and is unlikely to induce noise in your system.

As for the heat, the heatsink on the back of the HU needs a little clearance to breath, try to make some room behind the HU to allow for better heat dissapation.
