head unit cuts out

I need some help I have a pioneer deh-17 head unit it's about 8 years old I use it outdoors on trips it is hooked to a deep cycle battery power wire and acc are hooked to pos and ground is hooked to neg now my problem if I'm running it without an amp from the speaker wires on the back after about volume 18 it starts cutting out then if you go up more it will power off then back on and keep doing this til you turn it down but if it is hooked to an amp it works fine what could my problem be?

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...

There are a couple of options. You can use a marine bt unit. They come in the size of a hockey puck and can mount anywhere. This is the marine unit.

There are bluetooth amplifiers. You can just use your phone or an I Pod as the music source and not touch the radio.

Avoid jvc 480bhs hard to see the display in the daytime even with the brightness all the way up also not as easy getting to the audio menu like...

I have a 06 grand Marquis. Looking at either Kenwood or Sony Apple play. Is it worth have a floating monitor? Pros and cons?
