HDC312 quick port tuning question

I've got 2 of these 12s in 4.0 cuft NET.

I know it's a little smaller than normal but goin in a small car.

I know it is suggested to tune around 38hz and it can still drop down to the low 30s.

What i am wondering is this-

I can tune to either 38 or 35hz.

With my smaller box, it will be harder for the subs to drop low like expected.

Now, i'm not after the 20s, but dropping down to the low 30s would be nice.

Should i tune to 35hz to recover some of the lows or do you guys expect me to still be able to pick up the lows decent enough for a 38hz tuning?

No experience with the subs your running but just to be safe I would go ahead and tune it to 35Hz. Don't get me wrong it'll still pick up the lows if it's at 38, it just won't be near as good.

surely.

No offense to you at all, but these subs were intended to be tuned around 40 and be purely capable of ground pounding lows as well.

I know that sounds too good to be true but that's how they are intended to be installed.

I'd rather have someone who has experience with these subs to chime in as well.

Again, no offense!

40hz is one key note in my car.... that's a major plus for me to tune to 38hz.

34-36hz is another good area too....

So it basically comes down to the install at hand.
