its not really about it sounding nice, its about the power used in the whole system.

so i asked DJL if they made a mistake and i guess i am retarded because they dont offer this speaker in a d4! lol. but i checked the ohmage and its at 1.7, so its probably only grabbing 1500 watts rms from what the amp is producing. this is probably why my voltage stays pretty consistantly around 13.8v ya think??

Something is wrong w/ your wiring on your sub lol. Dual 1.7 is going to be 3.4 or .8

I'm guessing its wired to 3.4... Thats the last possible thing i can think of

If it is reading 1.7 it is not hooked up correctly. Check the box to make sure it is run in parallel It should read like .9ish when hooked up correct. 1.7 would seem like you are only reading 1 coil

well i pulled the speaker out and all positives are together, and all negatives are together. is this wired parallel? yeah when i hook my DMM up to my speaker terminals on the amp with the speaker connected (but amp off of course) it reads 1.7 so does this mean that my wiring is infact incorrect?? it would make sense, but by just looking at it, both positives are running to the speaker + and the negatives are running to the speaker -

ok so please help!! if i wired my sub down to 1 ohm (dual 2 ohm voice coils). what should my DMM read at the speaker terminals on amp with EVERYTHING hooked up, but everything turned off? because i am getting 1.7 ohms (cold).

just go to crutchfield, use their wiring guide. and match it up...

you do not test for resistance with the sub woofer hooked to the amp.

when checking for ohms (anytime, not just stereo stuff), you need to power down and isolate. IE, disconnect the sub from the amp terminals, and then connect the leads of the dmm to the wires you just pulled out.

not doing so will give you an inaccurate reading.

i found another wiring diagram. and it says that it should read around 1 ohm, not 1.7ish at the amps speaker terminals. something wrong?? both positives are together, both negatives are together....????
