HDC3 Problems?

ok then i have 1 question...how good is the HDc3 10 cuz i plan on getting 2 of them for a bass racer and everyone gets the 15 or 18...sometimes even the 12 but i hear nothing about the 10. Now i've talked to DJ(who's son owns DD) and he said that the HDC3 series is comparable to the 9500 series woofers that DD makes. both of which no one runs in competition here in florida (that i know of). I am always seeing these FI(mostly) or t3 or kicker bass racers and i love to be the type that pulls up with something unconventional and blow everyone's minds....hence the reason i'm bass racing in an old school honda sedan.

My teammate somehow broke his coil on a HDC315 with an 8 layer aluminum coil running off of a 2500.1 @ 2 ohms with the ssf on. The coil did not fry but broke which isn't usually what happens. I don't know if he hit too low of a note that caused too much excursion or what, but that sub is awfully stiff to move a lot on that power. He since got a new recone and more power and hasn't had any problems out of it. A faulty sub maybe?

I really think it is the bottom spider making that noise you guys are talking about... I could show you pics so u can see what im talking about,,.. It looks like the very bottom spider is only half the size as the others and it comes off because the glue is very brittle and cant flex..

I heard it when he was running only 2 10's it was still pretty damm loud.

I've only heard one set of 18's so far and they sounded fine, meaning no noise, and got very loud and sounded good for daily.

I'm buying Nate's HDC motors to recone and plan to throw 3k at each for a few burps and see how they do compared to my HD's...

They will take 3kW for a burp easily.
