HDC3 Problems?

I have now seen it mentioned in a couple of threads that the HDC3 is having quite a few problems, but no specific mention of what those problems are. If you have had any problems I would like to hear what they were since I have recommended the sub to some people before.

My sub is great, no problems. Did have that noise people were talkin bout but it went away

That's the only problem I have heard of, a mechanical noise coming from the pole vent, other than that everyone seems to love them.

I'm hopin the noise issue doesn't show up on my hdc318. It will be fired up in my truck for comps but daily the box will be firing into the back of my drivers seat...hopefully if there is mechanical noise I won't hear it too bad.

I doubt you will, from everyone who has reported it they said they REALLY had to listen for it. All drivers have slight mechanical noise anyway, from air turbulence in the gap and the movement of the spider and surround and it's just not noticeable once installed in a box.

Good to know. The only time the sub will be working hard is when I'm cruising down the hwy with the windows down so I doubt I'll hear it, especially if the noise only comes up when its gettin pushed hard.

its probably still there but its nowhere near as loud as it was when i first installed it

mine sounded terrible, the spiders ripped... and it got stinky off 2kw a sub after 1 to 2 tracks.

nate2587 demolished the spider on one and the coil on the other off 3k a piece.

they were loud tho.

I've heard 2 more installs w/ them other than those. both were loud but had problems w/ the woofers.

You were both putting more than recommended RMS to them for extended time, WTF do you think was gonna happen?

Didn't skip 01 here throw up some videos of a hdc312 on an AB500.1? didn't hear anything about that one dyin.

Well if it was built anything like RE, FI, DD, or others in that category they should be fine, and from what I can tell some have been fine and other just fail
