Hdc3 Port Area(Using Aero Ports)

Like the title says....

Im about to get my old Hdc3 18 & enclosure back, lol.... But anyway the enclosure is about 6.3 cubes after displacement of my sub, 2 6" aeros, & internal bracing.

For this box the way its built i can add/remove port(s).

My question is how much port area should i be shooting for with this enclosure and im going to be running about 3.5k-4k to the 18. Its for music comp so the it wont see that power all the time.

2 6" ports for an 18" is fine for daily. If you want SPL you can always do 3 tuned higher and plug one for daily.
yea for daily it did pretty well. i mean for SPL it didnt do that bad with all the weak links in my system(stock alt, 2 regular batteies, and 1 run 4ga wire) & probably about 5-600 rms, tuned about 37hz, and not enough port area & it achieved a 145.xxdb average (floor-146.9, window-145.8, Seat-145.27 30-second music average in each spot) in the org i compete in.

i think the 2 6" aeros is fine. if you wanted to change the ports, i would look into doing a single 10" Sonotube. but if it were me I'd just leave it as is unless I have money to burn.
the only thing is i know i dont have enough port area and i know i would gain on the meter just by upping my port area. but yea daily 2 6"s are good.

i may do a sonotube 10" even tho i really dont want to but dont have much of a choice, if i do im going to make 2 of them. 1 for daily and 1 for spl lol, ill just make it where i can change them out.

How are you figuring that 2 6" aero port on a 6+ cubic ft box? That plenty for that size enclosure, it'll be good upto nearly 8 cubic feet depending on the sub.

the hdc3 subs like ALOT of port area... hence @pro\-rabbit; above stating to use 3 6's for SPL and plug one of them for daily. also as you said it depends on the sub. the way the hdc3 are built, they like larger boxes and alot of port

Whats your time worth having to do that to 2 ports just have psychoacoustics make you one that you can adjust on the fly.
for this i would just make a cheap daily one for now, and it would be over time where as im not in a super rush. i would just work on it when i have spare time. also the sonotube is really just a idea. i may just try a 3rd 6" aero and do that

ok, ive been doing some thinking. here you said 3 6"s for SPL, are you saying i should try between 80^2 per cube & 84^2 per cube?
