Personally I'd take 2 12's over a single 15 since the ones you're considering are very similar in power handling.

I run HDC's in the daily and demo set up, been very happy with them for the last 4-5 years...

i would do the hdc3 12s.... either choice will laugh at 2k but im putting mine on the hdc3 12s being louder

Z > HDC3 any day. The HDC3 can get loud for sure but the build quality on it isn't superb and compared to all of the other subs I've owned the hdc3 was by far the peakiest.
