hdc3 or hdc4?

I ordered 2 hdc3 12s off aq yesterday and they said they need about two weeks for them to start making it. So i started thinking about the hdc4. Should i just switch over to the hdc4 instead? Ill be puttting 2200 watts rms per sub. I have no idea what the box size will be for the hdc4 or if i have enough room for them if they need a bigger box than the hdc3. Also another thing thats throwing me off is the fs on the hdc4 is 43 and the fs on the hdc3 is 34. But i read up somewhere the hdc4 still gets pretty low even with higher tuning. thanks

i'd do the HDC3's, ther'll handle 2200 just fine.

only real reason i would switch, is if your prepared to throw ALOT more power at them

and the hdc4 was designed to take the same enclosure size as the hdc3

I would assume the fs specs for the HDC4 are for a fresh out of the box with zero playing time. Fs will drop as the sub loosens up.

Off 2200 per sub I'd run copper HDC3's...

so how much more power? I also remember reading up that theyre pretty efficient so even at 2200 watts rms, itll still get louder than the hdc3.

but if everyone is saying the hdc3 will be fine then ill just stick with them.. thanks for all the help everyone

okay nvm, i went with the hdc4. I called up audioque and spoke to Josh. He told me they had 2 hdc3 12's off an aq 3500d in their show car. They swapped out just the subs to the hdc4's and gained 3 dbs. The old hdc3 subs were already broken in and the new hdc4's werent even broken in yet. I think thats pretty impressive for just a sub swap.

what does the supercharge mean? upgraded coil? Also its too late to change now, I already placed an order for them. I loved the way my old hdc3 sounded. I just cant wait until I get to hear this new sub.

the regular ferrite motor with neo added inside the motor to make it stronger, I should be getting 2 with composite cones here in a month or 2.

what does the supercharge mean? upgraded coil? Also its too late to change now, I already placed an order for them. I loved the way my old hdc3 sounded. I just cant wait until I get to hear this new sub.

hopefully it has better build quality than what i've seen coming from them lately. triple joint failure, spiders tearing, coil unwind along with the(cosmetic) spiders never lining up in the same place on the former on any 2 subs.

all my other stuff has been fine, they did change a **** ton of people out though. I'm more worried about the fact I plan to use a m4a on 2 12's with 2.5'' coils

did you get the full story? They also dropped nominal impedance in that "direct swap out".
