HDC3......Copys???

I've gone threw almost alot of the Aq threads and haddent seen them just like this, and most companys that copy other subs at least try and hide it.... no need to get ur panty's in a bunch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
There is no need to hide anything. HDC3's are simply a bunch of chinese parts that anyone can get. There's no patented technology, nothing "special" about the HDC3 woofer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

So i'm gonna say then who'ever has better marketing gets to become sucsessful lol how gay......

Wierd How did I miss the thred with other Hdc3 copys these guys didnt make much of a effort to change the look lol
you not reading what people are telling you. It's not a copy of AQ, you can get the motors, baskets and stitched cones the same place dd gets them from. And dd used that basket before they built the Aq's. So if those subs are copying anything its DD not Aq. But like mentioned you can get those parts off the shelf

Indeed. Basically, anyone can make an HDC3 clone..it's all about who's gonna sell it cheaper. But to the unknowing, they may pick the "better" brand name over the likes of Audioque...but they may be getting the same driver for more monies too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You cant patent a bunch of chinese parts thrown together into a woofer as something of your own, therefor it is free to "copy" and perfectly legal. It happens.

Many companies use similar parts..hell..I just picked up a pair of Cadence ZRS Series subs last week and they look similar..see what I mean...

Well your right driver and basket but even the dustcap is similar or identical from what I can see just the center part or the cap.

plus this is off the website that your guys cant see

"Some Info:

340 oz Motor Structure

Kevlar laminated cone

3 inch coil

Extra stiff suspention

Aluminum or copper coils available

Dual 1, 2 or 4 ohm coils available

If you are looking for an SPL driver on a budget - this is it. This is your best bang for the buck SPL subwoofer.

Prices:

10" - $400

12" - $430

15" - $450"

If we all remember the konaki clone of the DD it had more then a few things differnt in cluding some motor componets (cant remember what they were)

These are even offering the copper and aluminum coils just like aq is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I'm just stating this cuz of how surprised that it looks like the buy right from aq and resell for more to profit and stick a differnt LOGO on the dust cap....

What you are seeing are not copies of the AQ - they ARE the AQ's. The guy who is peddling them got caught awhile back trying to rebadge them by AQ himself. Pretty funny actually.

So, it's a 'nothing to see here' kind of thing, just someone who is trying to make a buck or two selling other people's stuff.

Thats what I was thinking LOL.... I may be wrong here but last time I checked isnt that illegal.... This dude is a sponcer as well on that site //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Well, perhaps this is a different person who is selling the stuff then. Or, its the same person who got caught and has decided to go "legit". I don't go to that site anymore - too much of a cesspool if you ask me.

There are several subwoofers now on the market that "LooK" like the AQHDC series. The basic motor design is a very well known motor in China and is made by several different companies and is used by several subwoofer companies. It's kind of like the Chev 350 engine in that they all look the same on the outside but there are many different variations of the same basic motor.

The subwoofer motor can be, and in our case , built to whatever specs the customer needs to suit their overall woofer design. This includes the gap, pole piece, top and bottom plate, magnet thickness,ID and OD. The combinations are almost limitless. The same goes for spiders, coils, cones, surrounds and every other part that makes up the final design.

Some or all of the parts can be "off the shelf" and some can be custom "tooled" if needed. There are hundreds of spider designs available for the sub designer to pick from and many different coil configurationns as well as the quality and type of wire used to wind the coil not to mention the quality of the glues used. The overall suspension design can be vastly different and still look very much like other designs at first glance.

The methods and quality of assembly can and do vary greatly yet the finished products "look" the same to the uneducated buyer. Price does not always go hand and hand with quality; just because they "look" the same doesn't mean you're getting the same product. I know of one product that "looks" just like ours but comes apart the first time it gets its rated power put to it....well maybe the second time.

The majority of the parts including the motors on most subwoofers on the market today come from off-shore. Most of the sub assembly is done off-shore. The sad fact of the matter is the subwoofer business has become for the most part a Chinese business.

I have found that in some respects China is just like America; there is good stuff and bad stuff...sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

people have gone over this before. but its good for the ones who havent seen it. no better way to educate an ignorant customer, than to give him the facts and let him decide.

good shit straight from DJ of AQ right here, dispelling the "if it looks the same, it is the same" logic, that seems to be rampent on the forum. SI mag and Fi Q arguments anyone? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
