hdc3 and sdc2.5 comparison

I would say an SDC is good for about 900wrms. After that they start to stink. I have no experience with the HDC's
From what I have heard the hdc and sdc are about the same volume wise. But, The hdc ends up being louder because it can handle more power and has greater excursion.

The copper coil HDC3's will play the lows like the sdc. But, the al version is for spl.

I run 4 15" alum coil HDC's daily and they do quite well on real music and get low and loud when I'm in the mood //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ok. I was actually thinking an Aq 3500D for 4 of the sdc. Then 2 3500D when I upgrade to hdcs. This shouldn't be loud. Naw. (daily driver btw)

VERY well thought out plan. As mentioned 8cubes net for 4 12's with 128^2 of port area and if you listen to mostly new rap then consider tuning 35-36Hz, otherwise 38Hz works very well for all types of music.

I've tuned HDC's in the low 40's for rock music and they sound very good. LOT of punch...

Both the SDC2.512 and the HDC312 like ported boxes in the 1.7-2.5 net range with 2 cubes net being an all around good choice. If you listen to mostly rap tune around 35-36, if you like rock and everything else but rap tune 38, if you want mostly spl tune 40-45.

What you don't want to do is make flex vids with 3-4 times the rated power in a 40-45hz tuned box.

The SDC2.5 series will get just as loud as the HDC series up to it's rated power and a little more but the HDC will continue to get louder as power increases.

Both the aluminum and copper coil HDC's have good sq in the proper boxes. The alum coil version works great in all applications but is optimized for competition.

i have some vids of 4 sdc 12's in my old build log if u want to check it out, should be pretty similiar to what you want

my box was 8ft^3 after displacement, using 3 6" aeros tuned to 38hz. worked very well on the lows as well as with rock music.

That was a insane setup man! I remember see the thread a while back.

Was the box hard to fit in the escape? I'm doing a box similar to that size in the same escape as well, just curious to know how much leeway there is between the trunk and the ports. Were'nt the dimensions like 40x22x22?

As far as this thread goes, it's great info I just gathered by reading this. I'm about to get a pair of sdc15"s. Still debating on the amp, either 1200d or 2200d. But from what I've read, seems like I'd be better off with the 1200d since the sdc's will be satisfied with about 700wrms (1200d does like 1470w @ 1ohm @ 14.4 with like 5%thd if i'm not mistaken?)

Not trying to jack the thread but I'm running a hdc3 15" off a 20.1 right now. Would 2 12's (sdc2.5) be louder off the same amp?

I wasn't sure...there's more cone area but the same power
