HDC3 18's Aluminum Or Coppers?

k guys hopefully tomorrow sometime im going to be ordering my 4 hdc318's i was just wondering if i should opt for the aluminum vs the copper, i have had copper hdc3 12's never the aluminums, would i see any power handling difference between the two? It'll only cost me $124 more dollars to get the aluminum coils, is there really any sound difference between the two? either will be powered by two AQ3500D's at .5 ohms per amplifier. Thanks for any comments.

well as far as i know id say the aluminum coils will take the power better, but i dont see the copper ones having to much of a problem with that much power either

Even if the copper can handle it and not break power compression is never a good thing. Extra heat hurts SQ and SPL. I've never used the HDC3's though so IDK at what point you' really have to start worrying. I'm sure someone on here can be more specific, just something to think about.

coppers at your power level. If you had a 3500 per sub then alum.

You can always recone to alum when you get 2 more 3500's...

I'm in the same boat. You will be fine with coppers. You should wait till the new AQ 3500d.1s come out.

EDIT: Alums arent needed if you're only pushing 2k to them. I got the alums b/c I'm pushing almost 3.3k rms to each.
