i don't think too many people have made the plunge......

only a few decks come with hd tuners (only one i actually know of, that touchscreen)

and the external tuner boxes are $$$$$$$$

i'm sure as shit not gonna spend $500 on a decoder for cd-quality commercial radio........ cd > radio, regardless of quality

I've heard it, and I think it sounds really good. I was looking into getting it for my car until I checked what was broadcast in HD in this area. I found that we have two college stations in HD and that's it, so it isn't worth it. Otherwise I might have gone through with it.

never mind i didnt realize hd radio ready meant you have to buy that stupid decoder. hd radio is a freakin gyp

I don't think Pioneer has a tuner yet.

I'll do it if it sounds better than satellite radio, which shouldn't be hard.

the stock deck in my sisters 2005 saturn ion displayes track titles and other information on some stations, does this mean that she has HD radio?

No - I would imagine that the stock deck in your sis's car has RDS decoding built-in (something I wouldn't have figured was in an OEM HU so that's kinda cool)

Most newish GMs I've seen have RDS. I've yet to see an aftermarket deck with RDS. I probably just don't know where to look though.
