Ok, so I just bought a new 32" Flat panel lcd tv.. I was wondering if to take full advantage of the hd on the tv i would need to get a special hd dvd player? (Im not talking a blue ray player as I have a 720p tv) Also will a ps3 or an xbox 360 suffice as being an hd dvd player?

Thank you!

I don't get it. What does you having a 720p TV have to do with blu ray?

The xbox has the hd dvd's add on I believe if you have an older one, newer ones, I am not sure as they discontinued the HD-DVD's.

PS3 is the blu ray player, which works well. Will give you full HD through it.

If you want a stand alone player, I recommed the Panasonic one, which is beautiful and looks better than my PS3 on my moms TV and we both have the same TV, but mine is an Sony xbr5 to her xbr4.

HD-DVD = Dead
Get a PS3 if you play games it has what is supposed to be one of the best Blu-Ray players you can buy.
Meh, I would take my moms Panasonic over the PS3 anyday of the week.

I only got the PS3 for the dual package of gaming and watching movies in full HD. It is nice, but her stand alone is clearer and like I said we have the same TV, different year...........although basically same TV.

I am NOT talking about blue rays.. as my tv does not support it.. I have a 720p tv not a 1080.. I was asking if there was such thing as just an hd dvd player and just a regular dvd player.. not talking about a blue ray.. Does a ps3 play regular dvds in hd? even if I have a 720p tv?

Is this your first interaction with a television or something? I would say troll but you just seem too dumb to even pull that off.

Are you an escaped Amish?

ps3 or blu ray players can do all of the different resolutions, even at 720p you can play blu ray..

there is a setting in the ps3 home interface menu, you can change it to the setting that matches your tv..

I used to have a 32 inch 720p TV and I used my ps3 on it for a while until I got my new 46 inch 1080p Sony TV, I upped the resolution in the settings to 1080p

so the general answer to your question is that every blu ray player or a ps3 would work on your tv just fine and yes they will play regular DVDs as well and upconvert it into 720p or 1080p depending on what TV you have (does not make much of difference though unless you use blu ray dvds)

how does your tv "not support" bluray? hd-dvd and bluray are the same resolution, which is 1080p(1920x1080)

just cause the max res on your tv is 720p(1280x720) doesnt mean it doesnt support it and as stated hd-dvd is dead
