having trouble finding an amp...

I am looking for a single amp I can run a set of components and a single subwoofer off of so it must be tri-way capable. Was looking at the Rockford Fosgate p450.4 until I learned that I cannot use it this way as it is not tri-way capable. For wattage I need at least 50x4@ 4ohms and at least 200x2 bridged@4ohms. Front speakers are rated at 60 watts rms and the sub is rated at 250rms. My budget is $200 max. Is finding an amp in this budget with this option possible? One other possibility is the kicker zx350.4 are there any others?

Also another question do I need any type of external 3-way crossover to be able to use a 4-channel amp in tri-mode? Or do I just hook it up and switch it to 3-channel mode?

Why can't you run the p450.4?

You are running just one set of components and the single sub...right?

Front components on two channels.....and the other two channels bridged to the sub.

Yes one set of components and a single dual 2ohm sub. According to the guy at Crutchfield the p450.4 is not capable running in a tri-mode like that. Other amps on Crutchfield say that they are tri-way capable in the features but are out of my price range. I dunno if the guy was right or not I was unsure so I just called them up and that's what he told me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I normally don't buy from or call Crutchfield but they have the p450.4 amp on sale really cheap.

Pretty much all 4 channel amps will run your setup. Make sure to get one that has built-in high and low-pass filters. The p450.4 would be a good choice.

Here's the text right off of Rockford's site.....

"Equally at home powering two pairs of coaxials/component speakers or one pair of speakers and a 4-ohm SVC subwoofer, the P450.4 is an excellent amplifier choice for virtually any vehicle. A super easy way to add the PUNCH to your system!"

I know it says a 4ohm svc sub, but you can wire that dual 2ohm to a single 4ohm.

1st rule.....don't listen to Crutchfield //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks a lot for finding that info for me. Like I said I usually don't buy or listen to Crutchfield but I knew they were selling the amp so I asked them because they seem to be more intelligent than some of the other online sellers. Looks like I will be purchasing a p450.4
