having fun w/ walmart subs

I

actualy i havent been there in like a year. i bought 2 300 watt subs from their along time ago, THEY OWN! no the7 dont they have NO bass haha

It might throw a circut breaker if the subs lasts that long and you have something else plugged into that braker. Best bet is to use a 20a house braker and a 15a surge protector. The surge protector has a circut braker built in so you can use that as a switch.

And unless the dimmer switch is on more than your lights (poor wiring job/bad electritian in that case) the sub will see ~120v.

If you want to use a dimmer switch, go buy one for a few bucks at HD or Lowes. Cut the cord off of an old aplience, wire the dimmer switch into the cord, plug it in and go, start wit hthe switch low and move up untill the sub is just barely hanging on.

I have an idea it may be a little crazy, soak the speaker in a bucket of kerosene first then blow teh driver. I don't know if it would be that exciting to watch but it would be interesting.

Yeah my brother bought some many years ago when he was first starting out.

He bought two of their cheapo subs with a 500w sony amp. His friend who helped him with the install told him that the second voice coil was so if the first one broke so he only hooked up one coil. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

It worked untill he built a second box, which for some reson was for only one of the subs. Again, despite what I told him, he only hooked up one vioce coil and didn't ajust the amp. 500 watts to one cheap voice coil - lets just say it didn't last too long.

The best part was that he took the sub back and they gave him a new one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
