i was on another car audio foum a while back and someone mentioned using that silent-step sound deadening that is designed to go under hardwood/pergo floors in cars. they said to use the home theater grade and a strong spray adhesive to attach it to the panels but it works about as good as dynamat/hushmat. I have heard of alot of things but this seems to sound like a decent idea.

i want to try it because it is so cheap and i am on a tight budget. i could afford to do double layering in my doors with this. anyone ever tried it or heard of this before? i figure if it can completely kill bass resonance in a home theater that it can't hurt to use in a car.

so do you think it would work? i figure at about 95 cents a square foot and me dealing with a system and car together worth less than $2500 i might as well try it

for $2.7\sqft you could get real car audio stuff that was made for it.

if you are going to double up. its about the same price.

by double layering i meant the panel and the door itself........dynamat is based in my town but i can't get any cheap.......don't know anyone there anymore so i want to try this stuff in combination with some other things to stop minor rattles.

i don't have much problem with road noise or actual body rattle (its a buick...designed for old people who want quiet) but i get some trim pieces and such rattle when the bass hits. basically i want to isolate these plastic pieces so they can't directly touch and thereby end rattles. i also just want to mute out slight resonances.

i'm sure someone here has used stuff other than automotive asphalt sound deadening. i just want to hear if anyone has had good results with other methods. let me know what you did and whether it worked. i would appreciate it.
