Have you forgotten?

OK, I just wanted to make sure that you weren't questioning the history of US intervention in Iraq, which is the primary reason anti-US sentiments exist amongst middle-East terrorists.
Are you trying to say there was no terrorism until we invaded Iraq. WOW.

In fact there have been less terrorist acts abroad since the invasion, not

counting in-theater of course.

There was plenty of anti-US sentiment amongst Middle East terrorists long before our "intervention" into Iraq.

Uh, no. Where did I say that? I'm saying the reason there has been animosity between the middle East and the US (the US specifically) is because of the US's interventionist policies in the region.

I can only speak for the middle Eastern people I've spoken to.

Are they terrorists? Just kidding.

But yeah, that's what they are going to say now given the unpopularity of the war.

What about our intervention back in 90-91? How do they feel about that? Do the people from that region hold Iraq repsonsible at all for the latest military invasion? Were they comfortable with Iraq playing bullshit games in the wake of the first war?

Make no mistake about it, I thought this war was a mistake when the idea was first being discussed. However, the reason I thought it was a mistake was because it was bad for American interests.

As was the status quo bad for American interests. I think we could do more to topple these governments. Unfortunately, that's part of Osama's goals as well, to have the US do this dirty work for him. There is no easy answer, and doing nothing is easier. Short term.

Topple this government.

Saudi Arabia is the world's leading petroleum exporter. Petroleum exports fuel the Saudi economy. Oil accounts for more than 90 percent of exports and nearly 75percent of government revenues, facilitating the creation of a welfare state, which the government has found difficult to fund during periods of low oil prices. Saudi Arabia is often called, along with Russia, an energy superpower.

The central institution of the Saudi Arabian government is the Saudi monarchy. The Basic Law of Government adopted in 1992 declared that Saudi Arabia is a monarchy ruled by the sons and grandsons of the first king, Abd Al Aziz Al Saud. It also claims that the Qur'an is the constitution of the country, which is governed on the basis of the Sharia (Islamic Law). According to The Economist's Democracy Index, the Saudi government is the ninth most authoritarian regime in the world.

Theres your problem, when you consider 13 of the 15 hijackers were Saudis.

wrong, they hate us for our freedoms
If that was the case, they would hate Canadians as well, but they don't. They love Canadians.

I guess that makes us better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

What good is having freedom if all you can do is go ice fishing? I would think that the danger of being eaten by a bear offsets any freedomz you have.

I sometimes ask my self if the US was only interested in Iraq for oil? That Bush and Cheney could give a shit about people's freedom, and are only interested in their pocket books? That the press manipulates the truth to control the masses? Ok, then, let's have it out. I believe all of those to be possible truths. It has been the goal of the US/UK to control the oil in the Middle East for over a half century. Why would that goal not persist today? Iraq is the world's largest source of oil in the world. The USA is largely dependent upon oil. The threat of competitors such as Russia, China, and France getting into Iraq and control the oil there is severe. The country that controls Iraq's oil output (as per current energy standards) will control the world's energy. While this is not PROOF that the US attacked Iraq for these reasons, it IS compelling evidence.

Naw, I think it was much simpler than that. Junior just wanted to finish the job that Daddy started.
