have i gotten into a mess?

hey guys. i am going to buy a sub of a buddy. its a 10w7. he doesnt want it. i already have one and think a brother would be good for my woofer. well anyways.

i saw a thread about a thump noise sometimes coming from the sub. it still "slams" and is in great condition.

should i still buy this woofer or will it just burn up when i "slam" them?

its his. i completely understand this, but he says he doesnt want to sell me a blown sub. and i dont want to buy a blown sub. you know? how much would it cost for JL to fix it? or could i fix it myself?

ive said before, i dont know alot about them.

they charge allot. thats why id offer 50, i rember guy in other thread with blown 13w7 said like 300 ish dollars.

not worth it unless you get it for around $50. if you pay more and it blowsm you'll start crap with your friend.

Read a few places they charge 50% the price of the sub.... so if a 12w7 is $800 new it's $400 for the recone.... Might wanna check into that....

I suggest not to buy that, one thing its possibly damaged. Second there is better for the money. I am not a fan of JL, they have decent stuff but wayyy overpriced and you cant get it reconed and still be a good price, youll end up paying more than you can buy a good one for.
