Dont mind the wire, its 16 gauge my 12 gauge is on the way I didnt want to do anything permanent. I dont run it anywhere near this. This is with undergained amp (2v outputs on deck, im at 1/3 on the amp) and +8db on the HU's sub channel ( I listen around -5db otherwise cant hear the front stage ). Inside when the trunk is shut I cant ****ing hear anything except flexing and distortion and shit. I think the car's metal and plastic panels are waaaay too thin for this.

Let me know what you think. I know it is nowhere near most of you guys hitting 130's+ but for me it is louder than my old L7 sealed.

Camera sounds like shit obviously, not meant to mic that.

Close up regular rap song;

I did a scion xa wiht a 15in r type alpine m8 and it sounded like shit with the mids off everything rattled and vibrated and sounded like the sub was bottoming out

I sealed, foamed and matted the entire car with $300 worth of extras and now the bass is as if i was running the sub in a concrete room almost. the diff is mind boggling so deff look into fixing these panels and metal surfaces //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Okay I will. Do you mean just using some sort of Second Skin/Dynamat type thing?

I can see my back decklid ( where the rear speakers used to be ) flex like an inch up and down when the bass is hitting. I drilled holes through the original part and the cover and bolted them down as tight as shit to try and reduce the vibration. It has helped at normal listening levels but when I crank it, it sounds horrible.

flexing aND vibration or rattling are diff my scion flexes a ton still but all the panels than made noise now dont.

I took out all panels and layed matt while i had my sub in there so i could see first hand what was fixing what as i installed the insualtion materials

once that was done i installed the stock plastic panels back in and noticed i had to add matt even to the backs of those as some of those resonated a freq also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

alot of work start at the roof and work your way then back and forward //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wow that's a small *** port! That sub could be louder and sound a lot better had you have gone with 2 4" aeroports. Are you getting a lot of port noise? Maybe that's what is making it sound like it's distorted.

Maybe I have the gains way too low? On my previous sub ( same deck ) the gains were at about 3/4 and then they were pushing properly without clipping. Now I have gains less than half.

And yeah its one single 3" port, and it makes some noise, but less than I expected.

The amp is only 600w RMS, my alt is 96 amps and when I turn it up the car dims bad at idle :-(

I did Big 2 so far ( Batt chassis, engine chassis, alternator is underneath the car in a p.i.t.a spot so its going to have to wait till next week ).

edit: I also just bought some Dynamat Xtreme (40 sq ft) so I will do that this week also, since it vibrates SO BAD!!!! inside.

Oh and it sounds mega boomy, not that great SQ, just gets loud.
Should I maybe just seal it and up the gain?
What amp, did you buy it new, and did you set the gain with a multi-tester?

It's hard to tell from that audio, but it looks like it might have a motor problem. A 15 should move a lot more than that.

Can you swap it out with RE, if it's damaged?

From what I've heard of the sub, in the forums, it should be able to move at least twice as far, if not more. How long have you had it, and what kind of wiring are you running to your amp?

It was 3 weeks old, I dont think it is damaged. It was in all original packaging and if you told me it was new I would have believed it. The amplifier is definetly drawing power, and pushing clean, so is the sub. The distortion etc is from the vibration of all my panels. The sub hits clean when you open the trunk.

As for it moving more, no I haven't set the gains with a DMM, although I know I should. Wiring to the amp is 4 gau with an 80 amp fuse.
