The hard drive on my other computer crashed about a week ago //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif . I had CompUSA replace it under warranty, but the problem is I have a lot of valuable data on the broken hard drive. Does anyone know if it is possible to save the information on the old HD and transfer it to the new one?

You can try hooking it up as a slave and see if that works. And this sounds weird, but you can put it in a freezer for a few hours and that might get it work.
would this work with LAPTOP ones too cause my just crashes noN STOP it boots up but i have to load everything each time

just get it done professionally. if its important enough data its worth it
Well I asked CompUSA about it, and they said the only way to do it was to pay a professional company like $1,500. I think this is bull, there should be an easier way to do it

OK, I'll look into that. Sounds better than putting it into the freezer lol
The freezer thing is real! The IT guy at my dads work does it all the time, with much success. When he told me i thought, wtf also, but since then i've heard many people suggest it.

depends on the amount of damage the hard drive sustained... you might be able to do it at your house.. but say if the head slapped the platter repeatedly and the mechanism got fukt up.. u gonna have to send it in or take the loss. yes its expensive... 1,500 worth no...

do a google search

Hey, get me the name of the person at Comp who told you that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'll get you hooked up, if you get me the name and store location
