'hanging' an amp, necessary clearance above?

I've decided to 'hang' my amp from a board instead of mounting it upside down.

The amp is this:

RF R250-1D 250 Watt Class-D Mono Amplifier

How much space should I leave between the top of the amp and the board it's hanging from?

thanks

^^This. 1-2 inches should be fine, but note that your heatsink (the case) fins are on the top, and the amplifier depends on those to cool itself. You still may have heat issues even with clearance. But try it out, at most all you would have to do is flip it. Chances are pretty good you'll be fine.

The reason i'm figuring out how to hang it is because i've been hearing how flipping it upside down will shorten it's life, at the least. Is this just myth?

I downloaded the owner's manual for this amp, and this note now has me wondering if I'd be okay just mounting it upside down:

Trunk Mounting

Mounting the amplifier vertically or inverted will provide adequate cooling

of the amplifier. Mounting the amplifier on the floor of the trunk will

provide the best cooling of the amplifier.
