Half Life 2 Sucks

Today the UPS guy came buy, my delivery was a fresh shiny copy of Half Life 2, direct from Newegg.

That was 2 and a half hours ago.

The initial installation was fine. 5 CDs, just pop one in after another. It took roughly 15 minutes. Then came the launcher. Steam made the ****ing ugliest, ad-laden, bandwidth *******, unfriendly piece of shit I could ever imagine. First it has to register, which is never successfully did. Instead it says "Validating Half Life 2 files.." or something stupid, wastes over an hour of my time and bandwidth, only to NOT validate my copy of HL2. NO, instead, it says it's nearly finished with HL2: Deathmatch. WTF? I didn't tell it to download any multiplayer mods, who the hell plays HL2 online on dial up?! So I stopped that, told it to launch HL2, so it now goes back to validating. It got to 95% and it STOPPED. AGAIN. Now it says it needs to download "updates" and should only take an extra 384 minutes!! Stupid F* of a launcher!!

What happened to a decent installable and playable game? Doom3 was 10 minutes from Best Buy wrapping to level 1. I'm currently searching for a crack for this game. Yeah, it's a totally legal copy, but I actually want to PLAY the game. If I want to spend all day downloading updates, I have a Linux distro I can work on.

That's my rant. Half Life 2 has completely sucked ***. It had better be the best FPS ever, or I'll reformat my whole PC just to get the pile of shit that is Steam off my PC.

hl2 was rushed to get on the shelves cause of antsy customers. had they cleaned it all up, it would have been fine.

holy shit i never thought about how bad u people on dial-up that want to play STEAM games have it.. one word of advice.. get broadband. ok thats two but yea... steam needs a pretty hefty update and i think itd take a long time on dial up to do. that succs. but for some good enws theres a new steam out.. its called steam-down.. someone cracced it so that u can play ALL the steam games with ONE cd key. there are some exceptions though. i dont use steam down though all i play is counter-strike and i own in it and it is the best game ever and no one will ever change that.
