Had my new HO alt. tested today................

They hooked large clips to the batt, and then a clip around the + Big 3 wire. I watched the machine say the exact rpm and current, then the same test at idle.
You've had multple people tell you a place like Autozone cannot properly test your HO alt. Accept it. Your alt is just fine. If you're really concerned, go back and play a 50Hz burp at high volume. Autozone may not appreciate it, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Um, nobody said they cant do it....

and i bet they put little alligator clips on it to measure the current, theres a reason why we use 1/0 it carries the power.

Exactly. And they have NO idea of the RPM that its spinning at.They just say "yep it puts out but I don't think its a high output":rolleyes:http://audioforum.termpro.com/topic/22/3982.html

A link as to why.

they use large alligator clips with 2awg or sometimes 1/0 for voltage and a ring clamp for current

the reason they can not test them is because the tester can not present enough load

One thing I noticed while coasting, when the bass hits, its feels like someone is ever so slightly hitting the brakes on me....its not a jolt but I really can feel it. Also, Im currently powering only 1 of my 2 RE MX15's with a 1000/1v2 and Im getting some decent voltage drop to about 12v. NOW, this is the reading off my HU so Im sure its a little off.

It's accurate enough to prove that your alt is not providing the power your amp is demanding. What does your HU say when you aren't at high volume? 13.8 or so? What type of battery do you have? It plays a big role in your electrical, even if you have an HO alt.

It will be from 13.9-14.2 after it warms up. I have a new Yellow Top under the hood and 0awg big three.

So, if no place can test this thing correctly, where/how can it be done...

why not? if they know what they are doing they can. The advance that I Work at can at least? an tell you that my planet audio amp draws 163 amps of current playing a 27 hz note, and my alternator will put out 254 amps at 3-3.5k rpm.

These places can test alts. However they can not accuratly test the output on a High Output alt.Especially if its not on the vehicle.

Read the post that I have linked and this will explain why.

And I have never seen AZ,Advanced,Pepboyz any of them use 2 awg or 1/0 to hook up to an alt.Its at most 8ga and either aligator clips or the factory harness they use.

Then your advance is the exception, not the rule.
