Had my new HO alt. tested today................

Its rated at 200a. It tested at 130a. BUT......................I only had the clamp on the 0awg Big 3 Wire, but NOT the factory wiring. Could this be why I got a low rating, because the factory wiring was also taking some of the current?

For the OP, I hope you realize that most HO alts don't start cranking out power until around 2k rpms.

take the reading on the wire just as it exits the alt. and at higher rpms. 130 at idle aint bad, so Im guessing maybe 170 at 2k, and and 200 at 3.5k or so, highway speed.

x2, my 300a's only put out 150 @ idle. So not to shabby if it was an idle reading.

It won't make a difference if the reading was taken @ the alt.

I did the test at 2k for about 15secs and then idle. I think they just gave me an average rating. I had it done at Pep Boys for free, so I dont know how accurate it can be..

I had 2 802sx Ma Audio's running on that Alt.. It definantly makes some juice

Yeah I finally got the new pulley which is 1.7" compared to the 1.9" originally installed on it. I figured it would help at idle.
