Wuhfah should be here sometime this week ... I think.

I decided on the PT92 and the 96G. The Smith 952 in December, either for birthday or Christmas. Don't know though, by that time I might want the .44 Magnum as opposed to another handgun. Guy at the store is cool ... he's throwing in a whole bunch of free ammo, so that's a plus.

Would like to thank you guys for all of your help ... really appreciate it.

What would you suggest mod wise for either gun ... I'm not too familar with swapping out parts for other parts.

Wednesday would be the time to get them if they're reasonably priced.

I'll see how they shoot first, then see what (if anything) I think needs a little work, and then go from there.

I dont really do many mods to my pistols but there is all kinds of stuff you can do or have done. The most popular and easiest things people do is aftermarket night sights or adjustable sights and after market grips. Some people have costom finishes done to them. Aftermarket match barrells and polishing the internal parts and trigger jobs. If your going after accuarcy get some good molded grips and a trigger job and maybe nice adjustable sights. Then you can always get it polished to smooth things out if you have any feeding problems. As far as match barrels I would bet that the factory ones are capable of outshooting most anyone. Oh and I forgot that alot of people will put a different guide rod spring, usually a heavier one to lower felt recoil. And then you have the guys that like to put flashlights and lasers or optics on they auto which is retarded IMO especially if you shoot alot.

You'll be happy with the way they are. Save the mods for several years down the line after you know exactly what they are capable of and then you can tell what if anything needs to be done to them.

I am absolutely in love with my glock 29, but as your looking for a range gun, check out the glock 20, the full size version. 10mm is my new favorite handgun cartridge. But if your looking into a 1911 style pistol, kimbers are mighty fine, but expensive. Get yourself into a mid level springfield, and slowly change out all the parts, till its a custom beast. As for taurus, their wheelguns are about the best value on the market, but i dont care for their autopistols, the 12" .357 from taurus is somewhere around 350 usd, locally here, and thats a neat plinker to take to the range, it always gets some looks.

just my thoughts.

ps. my 10mm is an unweildy muh, but when im shooting it, i have the best time, although the rounds are fairly costly.

I predict the 96G will be used more...

If it fits and your comfortable with it, that's the most important thing for your handguns.

The gold and mother of pearl piece is not going to wear well, imo...

Hogue grips on my P226 changed my gun. The comfort is unbelieveable...

Night sights are wise for keeping the gun on your night stand for defense purposes.

So I've heard. I baby my guns, so hopefully it stays decent. If I see it start to wear, then Ill modify that one. Mother of pearl looks horrible worn out ...

Why in hell would you recommend a 10mm for a range gun? Sure they are very powerfull and cool but that just doesnt make any sense. Beside the fact that you cant get 10mm rounds just anywhere but also the price is not to friendly either. Unless you are planning on shooting Bad Guys through walls and doors or have some crazy fetish with hunting large animals with auto pistols then I really dont think the 10mm really fits. 10mm rounds used to be the designated round for the federal government but they had 1 problem with it and that was that alot of the agents could not handle shooting that round due to it having to much power. So then they decided to make a 10mm fed load wich was loaded down to tame the recoil which basically gave you a big caseing with not much powder in it making it a waste of space. Thats when they decided to cut the casing down and that was when the 40s&w was born. Dont get me wrong i love the 10mm round but it is not practical for somebody wanting a range gun or a race gun that will be shot alot. The 10mm is just to much to get really fast really accurate followups. I dont care for Glocks either for several reasons but I will probably buy a Glock 20 in the distant future just to have a 16 shot 10mm autopistol

other than my beretta .22, my .357 taurus is the smallest caliber handgun i own, so yes, its my plinker. 10mm is a fantastic range gun, its big, loud and a hell of a good time to shoot when your bored with your .45 acp and dont want to spend crazy money on .454 or .500 rounds, i dont worry about buying rounds, i forget often, not everyone reloads. I use the glock 29 as my personal carry weapon, my s&w .38 didnt seem like it would cut it, and i like the safety of the glock as a pdw. 10mm is my new favorite round to shoot, good fun to shoot, and arguably the most powerful autopistol round, well thats functional anyway. I just like the looks i get when my little gun makes such a big bang.

besides, the recoil isnt as bad as its made out to be, and anyone who says otherwise is a sally //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yes it is fun to shoot but I wouldnt use it as a primary range gun, but more of somthing to have fun with or using it for hunting. I would say it is the most powerful auto pistol round other then the 50AE which is in a class of its own so it doesnt count in my book.

What model is that taurus? I have a mod 605 357 that gets used for concealed carry when not useing my XD40.
