The government also has nuclear weapons, countless varieties of bombs and missiles, etc. As an American, do you believe you have the right to bear those arms also? Where does that line of distinction get drawn? Would you feel comfortable with me stockpiling C4 with an innate hatred of...the post office? There are compromises to be made. I don't think assault weapons should be banned in every form but I do think regulation needs to be improved. Note I said improved, not added. Something should be done to ensure that the right people are getting these weapons. New York crazy man who managed to obtain weapons despite being a felon? That absolutely should not happen.

Agreed. Assault Rifles are really for nothing other than recreation, and that's fine......but they are unnecessary. There are plenty of laws that decrease our "freedom". Many are in place to protect us from others looking to abuse their freedom.
