i have never been much of a handgun person, but i bought my 1st today off a friend. I have never heard of this company, or anything before tonight.. I got a Haskell JS-45.. which is a 45caliber pistol with an 8round clip.. it works fine but cannot figure out how to get the dam thing apart to clean it..

it didnt come with anything other than the gun, clip and 2 bullets (to make sure it works) and it does work. i found out that hi-point firearms now is responsible for this gun and it has a free lifetime warranty

my question..

Is Hi-point a respectable company?

had ayone ever used/seen/heard of a Haskell js-45?

i just recently bought a hi point .40 cal for $110 turned around and sold it for $250.

It was a decent gun for its caliber, low recoil and easy on the ears and hands. I shot 205gr silver slugs through this one.

Last I knew Hi-Point was made in Ohio. Cheap guns, and accuracy was hit or miss. Bulky, squarish,no style. Basically cheap.
Have no idea on the Haskell part
yeah it says right on hi-point's website that they are "affordable and made in ohio" also Haskell mfg is the reccomended service center for the 45's..

i have no idea for accuracy, but the gun fires fine, with reasonable recoil, downside is its big and heavy as shit, and very square.. if thats an issue with you..

cheap *** price and lifetime warranty are huge plus.. gun will be used mainly as home protection but i'd still like to be able to run sum rounds thru it at the range or in the backyard at random targets.

Your an idiot. Please support this retarded theory with facts.
ouch

Well, its a relatively large bullet with a relatively low velocity. 820 fps. .40SW has an average velocity of just over 1000fps, and 9mm is in the 1200+ range. I guess Im an idiot for realizing its one of the lower velocity rounds of common pistol cartridges made today.

Cheers.

Heh, I looked it up on the net. I think it looks cool. As for helping you out qith your question, sorry I can't.

I just wanted to tell you I found it slick.

hi point is used by alot of police back east and midwest.you should be able to rock the slide to disassemble it. if not most any pawn shop or gun store will show you how.
didnt kno that bout the cops using them.. me and my grandad tried to disassemble it.. no luck and this man had 35+handguns.. even the prior owner had no luck taking it apart.. but, hi-point's free warranty will fix anything and upgrade my parts for free ftw

For the most part, .45 caliber is not very accurate.
never heard that.. and a few fps within 50yards dont mean much to me, since is home protect/ rec use only

ouch

Hi-point makes a lot of low budget guns, personally I would never buy anything made by them. It gets the job done if you are just using it for home protection etc, but as mentioned they make bulky, heavy guns so you get what you pay for. I have been told that Hi-point guns malfunction/jam a lot (stovepipe jam), but thats only word of mouth.

I've owned a few Hi-Points... good "home defense" guns but that's about it. I mean for $150~ for pretty much any caliber they are decent enough guns. Put a few hundred rounds through all of mine with no issues and on all honestly they weren't bad guns. I just wanted a gun in every room of the house so I bought the Hi-Points and carried my PT 24/7 .40 again, not great guns but worth the change if you are broke. I mean I would rather have a Hi-Point than a baseball bat if it came down to it...

Never had a single jam issue (or any other issue) with any of mine. The day I bought them we just went out and put a couple boxes through each.

Lulz, truth be told.
