Hey, guys. A long time ago, my brother bought a Bronze Series B.C. Rich. His first guitar was a Crate (A POS starter guitar).

The guitars sat for a while until I went to start to play guitar. So I picked them back up. The B.C. Rich keeps getting un-tuned (Apparently, the tuning pegs are bad or something?). Could I swap the tuning pegs from the Crate Guitar to the BC Rich?

Or are the tuning pegs different diameters? (my tape measure busted, so I can't really measure it. Not to mention, measuring a circle is hard as hell.)

not worth it imo, BC Rich is garbage unless you get the higher end modles

either way it will go out of tune, the Crate ones were designed for the crate, and the bc rich for the bc rich

it would probably sound worse if you swapped them

Haha, not when you're broke.

And I'm not talking about the pick-ups, I'm talking about where the string wraps around, where you tune it.

Why would it sound worse if I swapped them? They're doing the same thing, just a different product.

Right now, I don't have $30 bucks. lmao.

Ever since I lost my last job (due to the crap economy), I can't find a new one for the life of me. I even applied at Circuit City (lol).

haha, gotcha. well, try working with what you got, hopefully they'll fit, if not just see if you can tighten the ones on the BC rich now.

Does the guitar have a whammy bar? That will knock your strings out every time, you shouldn't use it. Your gonna need to tune the guitar everyday, so I woukdn't worry about changing the keys(where the string wraps around). A new set of strings will need to be tuned and re-tuned as they stretch. When you string the guitar you should trim the wire or start wraping it so you get about 3 wraps on they key and no more, if you have to much sting on the key it'll stretch alot also. You could probably change the keys, but you'd need to be shure that the new keys wouldn't change the position of the strings or the neck. By changing the keys into different keys you could get string buzz from the new string angle, height whatever. Really anything can make the strings buzz, I wouldn't mess whit changing them unless the keys were the same type.

are they new strings? i'm a drummer but i'm pretty sure new strings will stretch and go out of tune all the time for awhile, also cheap strings might be your problem too

^^^ This

It's a possibility. There was a point in time where my cousin borrowed it, and replaced the strings. I'm not sure how long ago that was, or what kind of strings. But I was thinking the same thing. I was tuning it today, and it didn't seem like there was anything wrong with them.

I'll buy new strings when I get some cash.

I just thought I'd note, I've been learning my scales for a few hours now, and it's still in tuned. My cousins must be gay or something.

It sounds great for me. I wired up an impromptu guitar amp, using some components I had laying around + a CDT speaker I bought a while back (that're going in my bro's car tomorrow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif). Sounds really good. Well, back to practicing.
