Grounding multiple components is called "star grounding", and is a good way to eliminate ground loops from happening.

I want to do the neg. battery to ground with 1/0 guage wire, would it be okay to ground it in the same spot stock wires are grounded? or should i ground it elsewhere?

I would sand the stock part down to bare metal first. But that should be a fine place to put it.
