grounding to a magenetic source

the technical reasoning is, BECAUSE IT DOES.

if it is a problem, fix it.

problem solved. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

Alright, like i said, the problem is fixed, was fixed, it's all taken care of.

Anyone have an actual technical answer to this or do we all fly blind based on what everyone else says???

If it's not broken.... don't fix it. It was in your case, we told you how to fix it.

If you want the rocket science as to why it won't work, go ask the MythBusters, OR wait till some1 who CAN explain it to you better then we can to answer you, WHICH I highly doubt will happen anyway.

SO..... your amp is on when trunk is open = good. Close trunk, amp looses power = bad..... hmmmm obviously it's your ground if it works in another location..... so some how when the trunk closes, the ground weakens....

So i don't see how any1 is "flying blind" on this, it's purely logical.

It was broken, I fixed it. I didn't need responses to know how to fix the problem. However, I do want to know why I had to fix the problem ... some people like to know a little more about what they are doing. So how about everyone that doesn't know the answer to my question not respond so i no longer get emails telling me to come here and listen to useless information??!?!?! please?!?!

everyone that has left a response to this question has no idea how to answer the actual question of why this did not work; so answering with no answer is flying blind in my opinion.

Your original ? was answered in the 2nd post.

Your 2nd question, VERY open ended, was basically ... "anyone have anything on this?" in regards to you losing power when u close the hatch.

And anything on it is what you been getting....

OBVIOUSLY it's a lowsy ground that works better when the hatch is up....

Now unless you would like to ask some follow-up questions to get the answers your seeking, you CAN NOT be mad when we are giving you "anything on it"

Maybe it being magnetic has something to do with how the circuit for the trunk light works. So when it's closed, the circuit for the light is open, and because of that, the latch is no longer anything.

I don't know how exactly magnetics would come into play on this, just throwing an idea out there.

I doubt a magnet had anything to do with losing power, and we don't have your car here with us to take a ****ing look at it.

Could be loose, and wire that is loose simply wont transmit power properly, go ask an electrician if that isn't a good enough anwser...

The other possible problem is you didn't sand the paint off, adding resistance to the circuit, and or the metal that you grounded to may not provide a good path to the negative terminal on the battery...and the total resistance went up so high that the voltage dropped to a point where the amp could not handle it.

what to do?, ground somewhere else that is either/closer to the battery or attached to the chassis/frame and has very low resistance to the battery, or both.

The best way to ground is to run a ****ing wire to the battery, this is common sense, if you don't know anything about electricity you shouldn't be messing around with it, but instead reading http://www.bcae1.com/
