grounding problems with my amp

I have an Alpine 12 inch E class, a Sony Xplod 1000 watt 2 channel amp and a Pioneer head unit. So yesterday I was hearing alternator whine and ignition noise from my sub, so I started checking it out. After the tests I did and, I found that my amp is being powered and grounded correctly, the RCA plugins on the amp are being powered, but not grounded to the amp ground. So I put my sub back in today (I had taken it out when I did the tests) and now either the amp isnt working or the sub isnt working. I checked the signal wire and its not grounding to the amp ground now either. So now my car is taken apart, and I have no idea what to do.

dude WTF are you talking about? you heard a alt whine and now you amp wont power on? if no then check grounds. Signal wire = remote ??? this should not be grounded and can cuz real problems. Rcas dont have power either just signal they also should not be grounded??

I was told that the RCA plugins on the amp should be able to ground out to the amp ground. So I assumed that the signal wire (yes, the remote) would ground to the amp's ground too. Either way, either my amp isn't turning on, or it is and my sub isnt working. Any ideas?

If you grounded (or checked to see if it would ground) your signal (remote turn on) wire, then you probably cooked it (since most dont have a fuse)...

Take a piece of wire and jumper it from the Positive on the amp, over to the remote on the amp and see if turns on....

Yeah but the volt meter I was using has fuses on the cicuit so wouldn't those blow first before I fried something?

Actually yes the RCA sheilds are supposed to be grounded inside the amp, and headunit which is why people with pioneer's and blown pico fuses use a peice of wire to connect there RCA's sheilds to the headunit.
