grounding amplifier RCA's

I've never heard of a case where an amplifier's RCA ground was compromised. Most likely your problem lies in a bad ground.

Edit: Most of the RCA problems are with Pioneer. The RCA's ground trace on the PCB burns.

because i did the figure 8 on the pioneer deck, but i think the problem lies within the cheap o cali profile amp. I was able to twist the RCAs around and get the interference to quit by messing with them by the amp not the cd player. Would it hurt anything to ground my amps RCAs?

Are you sure you were only moving the RCA's? Couldve been moving the amp in general.

I don't see why there would be a problem grounding the RCA's to the amp.

100% amp would not move because it was mounted on a custom amp rack. Screwed down in all four corners. I would barely touch the rca's and it would fix and then the tiniest bump would set it off again

well i hooked up the amp today with the rca's grounded by me. It was AWFUL!! I undid the amp rca ground that i rigged up and it was beautiful. All i needed was to reground the HU's rcas.

Check to make sure the RCA jacks aren't loose on the amp. That goes for the jacks and the internal connections. A bad jack will cause all sorts of problems.

amen! Those crappy *** monster cable things i had caused me lots of trouble. I took them out cut them up and bought cheap *** Raptor stuff from the local audio shop, now im almost happy.

ya i didnt realize that. I have had an enclosure slide and pull the jacks loose on one of my amps. It made my subs constantly pop wether the volume was up or not, it did do some suspension damage to one of my old kicker Comp's.
