Ground Loop or Alternator Whine

just tried some 10 g I had around the house. The amps only 800w... by that last post I'm guessing I should go buy some thicker wire and that could solve my problem.

Ground loop is not difficult to understand or solve when you know WTF you are doing in car audio... of course the topic always seems to bring out the idiots who think they might have a clue...

In all honesty if a GLI did nothing then you either did not hook it up properly (used the GLI on only one RCA when more then one are hooked up?) or you have a serious fault with a piece of equipment... use a seperate 12v source, like a small 12v motorcycle batt or external 12v power supply to power and isolate that piece of equipment...

Edit: Also make sure that you don't have an RCA cable or RCA terminal on the back of your deck in contact with chassis ground...

Check out Navone engineering to buy tech papers related ground loop, and buy several fixes, such as an isolated power supply with floating ground for your deck FTW...
