Ground Loop Isolators

THANK YOU JESUS!!! ...and all who contributed in this thread. i grounded the RCA's like in the picture posted (the same one i saw on termpro) and it completely eliminated the engine whine. i just had to sit in the driveway with the a/c on listening to my system i was so happy...

thanks again!

btw, i have a brand new stinger ground loop isolator for sale if anyone is interested //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

This seems like a major design flaw of the Pioneer decks if this is such a common problem. Pioneer makes some other wise great decks, but this issue is just unacceptable.

Another reason why I suggest people only buy Alpine HU's, although I use a RF/Dennon that's no longer made.

Congrats! Mines grounded but it only seemed to get rid of half of the noise. Guess you were one of the luck ones!

I am the kid that bigbang was talking about and i did everything that i have read about before instaling the HU and still getting the noise. If pioneer is getting complaints about them shouldn't they do something different about the fusing before sending HUs out?

The only way the RCA blows is if you mess with the cables when the HU has power.
OP: Did you disconnect the battery when changing the amp?
i never do... my HU has waay too many settings and presets that i don't want erased. i've swapped out amps and subs many many times without ever disconnecting my batteries in the past. guess it was bound to happen eventually... i never heard of fusing a ground before, especially internally so that if it ever pops you're SOL...

for the record... i still love my head unit haha....

if you have more than 1 set of rcas running to the amps, you need to spiral tape them together. if they become seperated it can cause a ground loop. the father apart the rcas are the larger the ground loop & the more possiblity of noise.

if the amp does not have a good ground it will try to ground itself through the shield of the rcas. this will burn out a ground inside the radio on the rcas. (it is like a fusable link) this will also cause alot of noise. this is very common on pioneer & kenwood head units. if this occurs you can pull the head unit. take a short pc of wire skin the insulation back on both ends. unplug 1 rca. hook one end of the wire over the shield of the rca & plug it back in. ground the other end of the wire.

Hot swapping is what causes the fuse to blow on pioneer decks. If you don't want to blow it you HAVE to disconnect the battery. It says it in the manuals for your deck to disconnect the neg terminal before doing anything but I was stupid and blew mine as well lol. Instead of grounding my RCA's I got away with just using the RCAs for the rear speakers since my deck has 3 pre outs.
