i understand that engine noise is the most whined about problem on these forums, but i really need help. i recently installed an old alpine sub and 2 Sony 6x9 speakers through an amp into my car, as a novice i was told to get professionals to do it, so i did, the local car audio shop installed it all for me cos when i installed i the engine noise was insanely unbearable, they told me they would fix it but never did, the sound quality is better now but the engine noise still prevails, so i went to them and asked why they never fixed it even though they had charged me $200 to do almost nothing. I was told to purchase a ground loop filter/isolator and have them install it, for another $100. i looked them up and they are simple to install so i did it myself, it ran well for a couple of weeks with only minimal loss of bass, but then the GLI failed and horribly distorted the sound quality, so in the end i took it out and went back to ask them why it had happened, i talked to a trainee who was wholly unhelpful and also told me that they didnt have any more in case i wanted to replace it. so i went to a different shop to get a new filter, i bought a better quality (i think) "stinger" GLI and installed it, within 10 seconds of running the sound system through the filter, this one blew as well. so i have now gone through 2 different brands of GLI and suffered the same result twice using two different amps, the first being a boss audio 4 channel 720 watt amp and the latter being a Sony XPLOD 4 channel 600w, truth be told im getting fed up and i just want the get rid of the engine noise. The techo at the shop ive been going to is unhelpful and in my opinion a con-man. And im finally at my question, is there anything i can do to ensure that this wont happen again, cos its getting a little frustrating...
