ground cable in a boat

Ok i have a 1600w and 950 watt amp in my boat and am installing a battery separator so that i don't drain the primary battery. To completely isolate them i don't think i can run the ground in the conventional way to the engine block. So i have 2 ideas.

Run a double zero ground to a ground block

Mount the secondary battery close enough to ground directly to the negative terminal.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
