grill/sub removal JL powerwedge

Hi, I recently bought two JL 12w3s in a sealed JL power wedge box. I want to take the subs out so I can see how they are wired and what kind of voice coils they have. Only problem is I can't get them out. They have grills on them but they have no screws and don't twist or clip off easily and I don't want to start prying on them with a screw driver.

So how do I get them out of the box? They are the original version with the "**** cone".

Sorry for the stupid question but it's my first sub setup and can't figure it out.

First off get a dmm so you can figure the "ohms" without taking the subs out. If they are the W3's pull/peel back the rubber gasket rather hard on the sub and the grill should start to pop out.
