im very sure that the success rate in the NBA for micro fracture rehab is pretty low...Amare is one of the few who have made a full comeback in the last 10-15 years...

Most NFL players who have micro fracture surgery are back on the field in 7-9 months.

There is also guys like Chris Webber, Penny Hardaway etc. I believe Grant Hill had something similar in his ankle.

Tom Nalen got injured in 02 from a torn ACL, had it repaired along with micro fracture surgery. He's been to the Pro Bowl once since then, but has remained a top 5 center since.

penny haraway never really recovered...i mean never was the player he was before he got hurt. grant hill took almost a career in itself to come back and be effective.

Penny never recovered, he never played the same way again and then he got re-injured while in phoenix where he suffered a horrible heel injury...he has however been picked up by the Miami Heat to play this season (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif)

and Grant Hill was only a shell of his old self, even when he first came back, his shot was still as solid as it always had been, and his fast break still strong, but he wasnt the old Hill, and he played the same way from day one in Orlando, his game never changed, just the length of time in which he played it...
