Portland would have improved but not by much. But this puts a big halt in our progression. I mean, we will still improve a little. I dont even think Oden was gonna be our starter this year and he was to split minutes with Pryzbilla. But this is a big disappointment.
are you serious? you draft a #1 center, hes going to start, unless he blows, which Oden wouldnt do, and if he blows, you dont draft him at 1...especially behind a guy like Joel who hasnt lived up to his new contract...do you keep tabs on Portland? most fans wanted Joel gone this year when there were trades on the table for big body shooting SF's and fill in PF's...

How would staying at Ohio State caused him to not get injured? Actually saying "He should've stayed at school" is the absolute most retarded thing one could say in this thread. If he stays at Ohio State and blows out his knee, he is not the #1 pick and looses millions of dollars.
This is a huge blow to Portland. Portland has a good young team and Oden is the centerpiece. This really sets the franchise back. Portland could've contended for that 8th seed in the west.

no everything you say in every thread is the most retarded thing that can be said...simply because i don't agree with you...you aren't the mecca don aficionado of basketball knowledge, not like you have been mislead to believe....had he stayed in school one more year, the chances of him tearing his knee out the other day would have been drastically lowered, if not completely erased, because thats how life works...as for the staying in school comment, my view was that he needed another year IMO for his basketball game...he would have still remained the #1 pick unless god forbid he did get insured...but life happens...and then there are some that say "do it now for the millions dog!!!!" like yourself...ok, whatever...your rich, this year and your knee is fuxxored...congrats...

Why the hell would you go back to school when you are GAURUNTEED no lower then the #2 pick? Also Oden has no idea how he injured it. He wasn't doing any physical activity and this was just a knee scope and they found the damage, so he would've blew out his knee regardless. He would've blew out his knee in school as well. He hasn't even played a game and already blew out his knee.
