Well, I have been lurking and reading for the past couple of months and just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Kevin, I own a lawn and landscaping company. I am 36 and just got married about 8 months ago, for the second time. LOL.. I was really into the car audio scene back in the late 80's and most of the 90's, when the old school amps were great. I have had big systems and small systems, everything from linear power, phoniex gold, lanzar opti, precsion power, autotek, soundstream, and many others. I have just recently began to really get the bug for a small budget system. Nothing big, just something that sounds good. I started reading and learning all the new stuff that is out there and my god, have things changed. This new budget system is going to be installed in my Ford f150 extra cab, it is a work truck, but I spend alot of time in it. It is nothing special, but it is paid for.
I bought a Alpine cda 9886 and really like it. I also have some audio control stuff that I am thinking of putting in there also. What I want to know from you guys what would be a good 4 ch amp to run everything. I am going to be using a old school Lanzar opti 12" sub, found it in my closet. It is going to fit under the rear bench seat with room to spare. I would get something new, but I have it and I am going to try it. I am also going to be getting some image dynamics componets for the front, and some 2 ways for the rear fill. I am just kind of lost on what amp is going to be good enough now a days. I know there have been some buy outs with amp manufacters and the stuff that we used to use back in the days is not what it was. I have been looking at the soundstream ref 4.760, but really have not found any reviews on it. I want to spend about $400 on the amp if possiable. I don't want to sound like a newbie and ask alot of dumb *** questions, but I really don't know what direction to go. Like I said it has been a long time since I have done anything with car audio. Now home theater is another story.
Thanks for all of your help
