In that case, buy a 9600 GT or HD 3870 while you're at it (whichever you can find cheaper). No point getting anything better than that because your 3800+ will bottleneck it.

It'll work fine, though your CPU is not fast enough to fully utilize it. My 8800 GTS 640, which is slower than the 9800 GT, was severely bottlenecked by my 3800+ back in the day.

It means your CPU is too slow for the graphics card to operate at its full potential.

True. But still, I think its better to bottleneck a greater card than to buy a lower end one. That way you will still be fine whether or not you upgrade your cpu.
